The Constant

Categories: , , , ,

The Constant is a continuation and a progression of the self-released debut album. The two lead singers Kassia Zermon and Faye Houston radiate a playful presence over progressive roots inspired dub and a deep soulful sound.

The album featured on the Mercury Music Prize Recommends website, has seen the band featured live on BBC Radio 4’s Loose Ends show, and the first single Surrender hailed as “British Reggae at its best” by David Rodigan MBE.

Mixes from Nick Mannaseh, Richie Phoe and the bandʼs live engineer Darren Jamtone create a diverse sonic experience. Jim Sanders’ striking artwork completes the package.

REACTIONS

“A return to dub music of rare subtlety and imagination – qualities that confirm this band as the UK reggae act to watch.” 4/5 John Masouri, Echoes Magazine (UK)

“There’s a long history of UK musicians stamping their own identity on Jamaican sounds, with successive generations of bands successfully melding the two distinct cultures. The Resonators proudly carry the tradition forwards, adding a distinctly British aesthetic to Dubwise production and also infusing elements from the Bass Music explosion that’s revitalised the lower end of the sonic spectrum in recent years”
Mercury Prize Recommends

“This is beyond doubt a shining example of band that not only has talent but a true passion and understanding of roots music. The Resonators undoubtedly have a real ear for taking original roots reggae and imprinting their own modern, innovative stamp which is both unique and extremely refreshing in modern roots music.”
